Letter for fans regarding Dreamstage

 Canada Loves K-Pop

The following is a press release posted verbatim as submitted by the Canadian flashmob organizers.

TO ALL CANDADIAN KPOP FANS AND FLASHMOBS AROUND THE WORLD:

As many of you know, Dreamstage has presented us K-Pop fans with the chance to bring our favorite idols and global auditions to our own cities by hosting flash mobs all around the world on July 30.

Indeed this seems HUGE. A lot of you have questioned WHY organizers from Toronto and Montreal -- who worked with SBS last month to get our footage on National TV-- have not registered their mobs with Dreamstage.... especially when both cities each had mobs set up on July 30 weeks before anyone heard of Dreamstage.

Well my friends in order to make sure Dreamstage was not making promises they could not keep we contacted their main organizers with a list of concerns. The fact of the matter is that we the fans know next to nothing about Dreamstage. According to a press release at Koreaboo, they claim to be in partnership with the "biggest Korean Entertainment companies" but have not issued who these companies are. Nor have any of the "biggest entertainment companies" in Korea such as YG, SM, Cube etc. claimed to be in partnership with Dreamstage.

The Dreamstage project organizers say more details are pending. But, with the mobs 1 week away, we're starting to get worried. There's nothing offered from Dreamstage besides a poster and a Facebook page.

Dreamstage replied to our concerns, saying that if we're uncomfortable, we shouldn't participate, and should be patient. Which may seem acceptable if they hadn't opted out of answering even one of our queries and then deleting any similar questions that were posted on their Dreamstage page by individuals with similar concerns. It simply raises suspicion that they would go to such lengths to NOT answer our legitimate concerns that all flash mob participants DESERVE an answer to.

It's a tall order to expect us fans to just hand over our mob brand to strangers.

The problem is an ethical one. We are investing time and money in these flash mobs (sound systems, camera rentals, posters, gas, sometimes site rentals etc), and want to know if we're supporting a project that really has support of SM, JYP etc..... or if Dreamstage EXPECTS to get support after mobs around the world have shown their love?

What's more Dreamstage participants are being forced to adopt the Dreamstage campaign name on their flash mob pages. This is hard to accommodate for the Toronto and Montreal flash mobs as they have been planning their second respective K-pop flash mobs many weeks prior to the release of the Dreamstage project, for the agreed upon date of July 30th 2011. Personally we don't find this to be a coincidence considering Koreaboo was well aware of the Canadian k-pop flash mob movement to begin with. Not that we'd mind joining hands with Dreamstage regardless if it were not for the big promises they've made to fans all over the world without presenting any shred of proof that they can follow through or of any partnership associations.

We've written to the major entertainment companies emails (JYP, SM etc.) encouraging them to demonstrate their support of Dreamstage through a press release or something. (But of course would be surprised to hear back.)

Organizers can't do anything else.... Dreamstage's lack of info has been really upsetting and draining for us.

Hence the choice now lies with YOU, the fans.

We have told you our concerns with Dreamstage,  the risks that may or may not be present
and you are now aware that we were not provided with sufficient answers. Please discuss with your mob organizers and on fanboards. Organizers are hoping Dreamstage will produce something more before July 30 so we feel comfortable adopting their names in our mobs.... but, it does not  look good. :(

ATTENTION:
ALL JULY 30 MOBS ARE A GO whether each mob organizer in Canada chooses to adopt/keep the Dreamstage brand or not.

Thanks for all your love and support.
