The 21st Seoul Music Awards have just come to an end, and once again the girls are going home with some hardware! Girls' Generation entered the night nominated for the both a Bongsang award, and the grand prize Daesang, and although they were unable to stretch their streak of two consecutive Daesangs into three this year (Super Junior won the Daesang), they were still able to walk away with a Bongsang for "The Boys". In addition to the Bongsang, SNSD was one of two recipients of the Inkisang (popularity award), along with Lee Seung Gi, which was voted on by fans. SNSD beat out Super Junior for 2nd place by 0.6% in this category. The girls thanked their parents, SM, their managers and Sones everywhere for another amazing year.

Near the end of the show, Girls' Generation performed "The Boys" for the packed crowd, and K-Sones represented the girls well, bringing the "Pink Ocean" to the SMA's. The girls made their strong presence felt immediatlely as they descended the stairs on stage confidently, setting the tone for the upcoming performance. As always they performed incredibly, and the fanchants from the K-Sones were amazing.
After the show SNSD was seen congratulating their fellow SM label-mates Super Junior on their Daesang grand prize, showing both the strong friendships between the two groups, as well as the girls mature and kind-hearted character.
When everything was said and done, it was another successful awards night for Girls' Generation, and capped off an amazing year, that has seen them conquer the Japanese music market, and make their first strides into the United States market, as well as have a strong comeback in Korea. Whether we choose to remember the awards, the concerts, the records they set or our favorite performances, as the 2011 music year officially comes to a close, one thing is for sure - we are all proud to be SONEs.
