Girls' Generation Japanese Album Ships its One Millionth Copy
Originally released on June 1st, 2011, "Girls' Generation: Japan 1st Album" has just passed the one million copies shipped milestone. This makes Girl's Generation only the second Korean artist, after BoA, and the first Korean girls group to reach this significant achievement. The album contains the smash hit "Mr. Taxi", as well as other fan favorite songs "The Great Escape" and "Bad Girl".
The girls first foray into the Japanese market debuted at the top spot on the Oricon charts with its original release, and the repackaged album released on December 28th of last year debuted at the number two spot. In a market where repackages are often not received well by fans, the repackaged album sold very well and pushed the album over the one million mark aided by the additions of a Japanese version of "The Boys" as well as the new song "Time Machine", and three remixes of songs from the original album.
Congratulations to the Girls on such a momentous achievement, and an extremely successful first Japanese album!
