Simply because fans ARE the real papparazzis, they seem to have alot of free time on their hands, and stalk their idols 24/7. heck, they’re even more efficient than reporters..
But at least we all know fans won’t do anything to hurt their idols. However, things are different when we have the anti-fans.
” An anti-fan is a person who ‘hates’ a particular celebrity or icon. Anti-fanclubs, also known as virtual communities of disregard, hate listings and diss-share sites are groupings of such anti-fans.”

Celebrities these days don’t need to hide from the reporters, the only people they fear are the antis. In Korea, there will be anti-fans websites created for a celebrity once he/she has debuted. They say a measure of one’s success, is the number of antis one has. The more popular one gets, the more fans one has and likewise, the more antis there will be.
This is a report on the top 5 lists of celebrities who have the most anti-fans. This was a few years back, so numbers could have changed.

Anti-fans are V-I-C-I-O-U-S little beings, their doings can range from a minor comment on forums to actually endangering a celebrity’s life.
Let’s take a look at some of the notable events in the past years:
Han Kyung of Super Junior as a target for anti-fans
- According to an SM worker, during February of this year when Han Kyung’s fans created a gathering to celebrate his birthday, an anti-fan managed to slip into the crowd and jumped onto the stage, fowl-mouthing Han Kyung and yelled at him to crawl back to China. Soon the security pulled him away and did a search within the fans. They discovered that a fan had a bottle of sufuric acid and after more searching they discovered that the bottle was just water that had some powder added.
- Unable to defeat Han Kyung, anti-fan socities approached a more hurtful act, and created negative rumors of Han Kyung being involved in trades of amphetamine drug injection needles and sent threatening letters to SM to blacken Han Kyung’s image. Afterwards, Han Kyung took the volunteered action to test his urine to prove his innocence. Unfortunately, this incident has caused a dark shadow on Han Kyung’s image.
- An anti-fan sent a ”present” to him containing contained small bags full of blood. There was also a sharp knife and a stabbed picture of Han Kyung.
- During the SNSD performance, other fanclubs remained silent and turned off their light sticks .. this only left the SNSD fanclub cheering for their group, making SNSD’s official color pink as the only visible color in the stands.
- During Super Junior’s performance (Before SNSD’s performance) some SNSD fanboys ran towards the Super Junior Banners and ripped them apart, right in front of the ELF and SuperJunior on stag
TVXQ’s Max Changmin gets hit on the head by antis at Kimpo airport
When TVXQ was at the Kimpo airport in November 2008, two chinese anti-fans approached Changmin, yelled at him and hit him on the head.
TVXQ U-Know Yunho gets poisoned by an anti-fan
While the group was filming a variety show in October 2006, U-Know was rushed to the hospital from drinking a beverage given by an anti-fan. U-Know drank from the bottle, believing it was given by a crew member. Because the drink was spiked with super glue, he was quickly instructed by his manager to vomit immediately after drinking it. The Anti turned herself in the next day. The female suspect, whose surname is Ko, apprehended on October 16, was a member of an anti-TVXQ (DBSK) website for over two years.
Big Bang fans (VIPs) and Wonder Girls fans (Wonderfuls) vs DBSK (Cassiopeias)
As DBSK got ready for their Mirotic concert, Cassiopeias have been giving scathing remarks on forums to VIPs and Wonderfuls. Reason being, the Wonderbang fans had been reserving TVXQ’s 3rd Asian TOUR MIROTIC tickets without any intention to actually pay which resulted in huge amount of canceled tickets.
The cheating sales done by VIPs which caused loss around 10 million won because of the cancellation of 1700 tickets, resulted in more than 200 fans getting arrested by the police
Wonder Girls Alcoholic Outing with JYP gets heated response from netizens
- In an episode of Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate host Kim Jung Eun had asked Ye Eun and Sun Ye what they would like to do the most when they became adults. They replied, “Although this isn’t really our wish when we become adults, but we learnt drinking from Park Jin Young sunbaenim. We started with cocktails, beer for the second round, vodka and two other types of alcoholic drinks. We drank a little bit of each.”
- Some netizens who watched that episode was noticeably disappointed with the Wonder Girls talking about their alcoholic outing which lasted five rounds. They expressed with shock and chided their actions, “…they are still kids”.
- Their outburst of drinking 5 rounds has led to some fans turning against them. Anti-fans are seizing on every opportunity to put down the girls by blowing up the whole issue as well.
- He said, “I was really excited about it. Since my trainee days, I had little fans. But after joining FT Island as Oh WonBin’s replacement, my anti-fans got up to 2000 members. Right now, the numbers are increasing, and we are expecting the anti-fans to exceed 3000.”

4Minute’s van gets jacked by anti-fans a few days after debuting
On June 21st 4Minute’s van was raided by “unknown” suspects near the girl’s practice facility. Apparently the girls personal belongings including stage clothes along with a video camera which was used to record their dance practices were both taken.
It’s pretty interesting to note that most of the major anti-fans incidents revolve around SM’s artistes. Probably also because SM Entertainment is the top entertainment agency in the country and its artistes have one of the highest popularity in Asia. I guess celebrities have to watch their words and actions constantly because antis compared to fans, are obssessed with using any sort of evidence to ruin a celebrity’s image.
Fans defend their idols using propaganda by downplaying the event/ blaming someone else/ accusing others of overreacting..
On the other hand, Antis will make use of facts like newspaper articles, videos, images to justify their hatred for these stars.
So there we have it. The harsh side of the Kpop industry. It’s not all rosy out there after all..
