Dream Concert 2008 Black Ocean

SNSD Black Ocean
SNSD Performance 2008
Even till this day, it still hurts me. Very badly, whenever I look at both videos. Call me masochistic, but I do watch it once in a while. It’s the perfect case of turning tables, in the finest of examples.
Honestly if you ask me, fans from both sides tried to justify their own behavior and so on. But in what way does a ‘black ocean’ seem to be the right thing to do. The answer is never. No matter how much you dislike a group, the black ocean is the last thing you should ever wish on them. It is the single most degrading treatment you can give a group.
Look at the comments, plenty of people claim that sones had raped girls at the concert.
Do they even know what rape is? It’s not something you can throw around as you like. (I have to say at this point that I hate it when people say they rape the replay button. Why do they want to rape the replay button? They are misusing the word rape badly.) Do they know rape is a very serious crime and is punishable in the eyes of law? Why didn’t anyone go to the police and get those bastards arrested? It was a rumour which surfaced as part of justification for black ocean, but when probed, never again appeared, other than remaining as a rumour.
A rumour commonly misused as evidence to justify hatred and black ocean. When the evidence is not even reliable in the first place, how do you expect people to take you seriously with the accusation that follows?
Banner ripping. I see a video, shakier than a spring. of nothing.
Sone with a knife. Or more like sone with something flashing in his hands in a picture that could have had better pixelation. So anything flashing is a knife? Good.
Sones may have been rude back then, SNSD may have said things that offended other fandoms back then. Should I deny this? It will be tiring for me to do so, convincing dickheads otherwise, so i will jump straight to conclusion.
The bottom line is, no matter what, nothing justify a black ocean. It was not just some measly ‘hey! let’s punish snsd or sones for their rude acts!’. It was a major issue, held in one of the largest public concerts involving plenty of other artistes. It made the news, and people actually defended SNSD, rather than defending the antis. What an interesting tidbit, isn’t it? People say sones/snsd were rude, but what about those that turned off their light sticks? That’s bordering on inhumane, doesn’t it? You gave a young rookie group the worst punishment you can think of just because you don’t like them. Ever thought that it might break their spirit? Ever thought that they are young girls the same age as you, with the same insecurities and the need for love and acceptance?
Perhaps the antis back then didn’t.
The good thing that emerge from this silent treatment, is that at the end of the day, the girls came back stronger than ever.
Half a year later in 2009, they came back with the song of the year, sweeping charts and everything.
One and a half year later they won their first Digital Daesang in GDA.
Two and a half years later they won their first Disk Daesang in GDA.
Three years and 2 months later, they celebrated their 4th anniversary.
Three years and 4 months later, right now, fans all around the world are awaiting eagerly for the top girl group to make their comeback.
Funny indeed, how time can change things so drastically. Once faced a black ocean with only one spot of pink, and yet now pink oceans welcome them every country they visit.
I don’t hate the black ocean, in fact, I am so thankful for it. Thankful that the SNSD bond strengthened. Their will strengthened. They grew up from it, they learned from it. And in turn, they became the SNSD as we know today.
The SNSD that stand tall amongst their pink ocean, adorned with untouchable achievements and loved all around by their fans.
yes, i am a sone ;)
