[K-Soda] JYJ and SM Entertainment’s legal battle comes to an end

The legal battle between JYJ and SM Entertainment has finally come to an end!

After what seems like forever, the two sides are reported to have come to a mutual agreement on the 28th.

It is said that SM Entertainment and JYJ have both withdrawn all lawsuits against one another, and have agreed to not interfere with any of each other’s activities.

The long drawn out fight was started back in July 31st, 2009 when the initial lawsuit was filed against SM Entertainment by the three members of JYJ, who were part of TVXQ, requesting for the cancellation of their contracts. Since then, the two sides failed to reach an agreement every time and was due back in court again later this year.

It seems the legal battle is now over, and both sides, especially JYJ, can work towards moving forward free of the legal issues that had been holding them back.

The VIP premiere for the movie ‘Jackal is Coming’ (production: Nomad Film, director: Bae Hyung Jun, cast: Song Ji Hyo, Kim Jae Joong, Oh Dal Su, Han Sang Jin, Kim Sung Ryung) successfully took place on November 8.

Korea’s top actors and actresses, along with various other top stars attended the VIP premiere for ‘Jackal is Coming’, rasing expecations for the movie.

A few stars who stood out in particular were the Kim Junsu and Park Yoo Chun, who attended to support fellow JYJ member Kim Jae Joong, and Lee Kwang Soo, who attended to support Song Ji Hyo. Other celebrities in attendance included Kim Hyun Joong, Park Eun Hye, Kim Sae Ron, Seol Woon Do, Tae Jin Ah, KARA’s Nicole, Choi Phillip, Jin Yi Han, Jangmi In Ae, Park Yoo Hwan, and Go Kyung Pyo.

After watching the movie, Park Eun Hye strong recommended it, saying, “It was really good. I hope many people watch it in theaters.”

JYJ member and rising musical actor Kim Junsu left an encouraging message stating, “I came to the movie theater for the first time in a long while and more than anything, Choi Hyun’s kiss scene left a big impression, but made me envious. I hope the movie becomes a hit.”

Tae Jin Ah’s thoughts on the movie were, “Because Jae Joong is so good at acting, I was sucked into the movie. I’m very proud of him,” while KARA’s Nicole raised expectations for ‘Jackal is Coming’ with her opinion, “It was fun to see a new side of Jae Joong and Song Ji Hyo was really cool.”

On the same Song Joong Ki, who appeared at Lotte Cinema in order to give a greeting on stage for his movie ‘Wolf Boy’, displayed is close relationships with Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jae Joong with a picture.

With the attendance of numerous top stars and members of the press, the VIP premiere and media distribution successfully took place for ‘Jackal is Coming’, which is set to open in theaters on November 15 and bring a lot of excitement to its viewers.

SNSD’s Tiffany, JYJ, CNBLUE’s Minhyuk, & F.T. Island’s Jaejin celebrate ‘Black Day’

Every year on April 14th, singles all across Korea celebrate ‘Black Day’, a casual holiday that’s opposite to Valentine’s and White Day.Theses single ladies and gents celebrate their single status by eating a bowl of jajangmyun (black bean noodles).
SNSD’s Tiffany, CNBLUE’s Minhyuk, and F.T. Island’s Jaejin each took to their UFO Town accounts to send out a mass text message to their fans in commemoration of the day.
Tiffany wrote, “Today is Black Day. Did all of the singles eat jajangmyun? Tiffany will pray for you so that you meet someone great. Fighting!”

Minhyuk melted his fans’ hearts when he typed, “Black Day is the day for those without lovers to eat jajangmyun. Remember to order sweet and sour pork with your jajangmyun on the side. I have our fanclub BOICE, so I don’t think I’ll be eating jajangmyun this year.”
Meanwhile, Jaejin boasted, “I heard today was Black Day. Did everyone know? I’m about to eat it now. Remember to eat it!”
Finally, JYJ recorded a message with 3 adorable kids.

Hanteo releases results for “2010 Singer Award”

SNSD topped Hanteo’s annual “Singer Award” chart for 2010!

Based on album sales data collected by analyst Hanteo, the “Singer Awards” chart revealed that SNSD sold a total of 303,442 copies from January 1st through December 26th.

The chart takes into account all albums released throughout the artists’ career, but only factors in sales that those albums made during 2010.

As of December 26th, SNSD’s “Oh!” sold 123,668 copies, “Hoot” sold 94,942 copies, and their repackaged album released in February sold 57,037 copies. “Genie” and “Gee,” which were both released last year, sold 5,500 copies this year as well.

Super Junior ranked in second with 262,610 copies sold from 23 albums (132,127 copies of which came from “Bonamana“), SHINee came in third with 154,332 copies sold from nine albums (58,628 copies of which came from “Lucifer“), and JYJ came in fourth with 127,456 copies sold from three albums.

B2ST, who were recently honored as the only rookie group to have passed 100,000 in album sales this year, rounded out the top 5 by coming in at fifth with four albums.

On their homepage, Hanteo boasts, “Our chart is made up of one of the most unique systems in the world. Sales data from affiliates all across the nation, along with large record stores and smaller internet shops, are all updated live into our system.”

Hanteo has always shown close results to that of systems used by entertainment agencies and distribution companies as well.
