Editorial: Is SMTown Live Worth It?

It has been eight days since SMTown, and by now I am sure all of you have read more than your fair share of fan accounts about the show, so as I sit down to write this editorial, I decided to go with a different approach. Since my return from Anaheim back to Calgary Canada, I have heard one question about the show significantly more than any other one. What question is it you ask?Its not “How was SNSD?” not “How was the show? The crowd?”. Instead I have been asked by everyone “Was SMTown really worth it?” I can’t say that I am surprised by it, although I am not necessarily happy about it.

Being an international K-Pop fan, no matter what your fandom or what country you are from can be an interesting experience at times. When I first tell people I listen to K-Pop I am more often greeted with a look of confusion and a snide comment about why I would be listening to something I don’t understand, rather than encouragement or acceptance. That being said, acceptance is not something I seek from others; that’s something I learned a long time ago. Since I began actively following K-Pop and being an active member in the community I have only found a handful of people I know in person that are totally supportive of this, but that just comes with the territory.

My answer to everyone who has asked me whether or not making the trip to SMTown was worth it was more of a defensive reaction then anything else. I always told them that it was an incredible show, and it was definitely something I would do again, but I just left it at that. Its not that I was lying when I told people that, it was an ‘easy way out’ and a way of avoiding going really in-depth about every detail that makes SMTown such an incredible experience. My goal with this article is to finally elaborate on all the thoughts that have been milling around in my head, and to give an answer to everyone who might be asking themselves the same question I have been hearing all week. SNSD ft. Super Junior - The Simple Boys (K-Remix)

Uploaded by on Dec 12, 2011
It's take a few days to make this remix. And finally I did it to upload this mix. Special thanks to Ervan / vansanjaya / @ervansanjaya for help me to upload this mix video. Created by Vegas Pro 8.0, Elevayta Extra Boy VST Effect, and WMM. Sorry for the SuJu part is weird, because the program I used to filtering acapella is not suitable.

[Star Call] What's you Opinion on Blackjacks gaining hate for 2NE1?

[Jesse] For a while now kpop fans who have downloaded the StarCall Application for iPhones, Androids etc. have been bombarded by so called Blackjacks.
Fans have deemed the 2NE1 fan(s) fake Blackjacks. There is also the theory of them being negatively obsessed anti 2NE1 who are posing as Blackjacks.
Fans must first understand that the Blackjack(s) are just jealous considering 2NE1 was not one of the options for star call.
The so called Blackjacks must also understand that other Kpop groups like KARA, TVXQ, JYJ and Wonder Girls, etc. are also not part of the StarCall but at least their fan clubs aren't Trolling because they didn't get what they want.
They should realize that all they are doing is gaining more antis for Blackjacks and 2NE1. (Or maybe that's their objective?)
Insulting other groups will NOT bring 2NE1 to StarCall! I like 2NE1 as well but they have just ruined the possibility of that happening!
Fans are also disappointed in the StarCall App creators for not being able to control the content being posted on the app. They should at least be able to ban misbehaved app users.

Warning: Coarse Language in the Picture below

Picture Taken by [Jesse] in the Girls' Generation

On a further note regarding the picture, True Blackjacks know of Park Bom's cosmetic (not plastic) surgeries  yet they still respect and accept her decision like true fans. 2NE1 aren't known for being beautiful or vocals especially if compared to Girls' Generation. They are known for their Hip Hop style which is far from Girls' Generation's style! Gee 59 million views so it's far from being the worst. They even had the nerve to accuse Siwon and Leeteuk of Super Junior of being Homosexual. Yoona was deemed the most beautiful female K-Pop celebrity. There is also a racist attack on Chinese.

What's your Opinion on this behavior?

[KPopIndifference] Elfs' Message to Sones

As Sones we must be understanding of our Elf sisters. Under SM Town we are all family including the bad sisters and brothers.

The following is a somewhat controversial picture:

From a neutral's perspective regardless they are still mostly are jealous and I know what I'm talking about.
Even though it was Leeteuk hyung's wish , there are other male artists who wish the same thing before they go to the army so Elfs shouldn't be soo greedy.
No need to curse when making a message, it ruins the image of Elfs and Super Junior.
They will all reunite after their military services are done so be patient.
Super Junior still has to win awards through hard work, not because of some wish, excuse or some butt hurt fans.

Tyler Brûlé: SNSD, one of Korea’s power brands

Worldwide trend setter Tyler Brûlé has nothing but praise for the excellent achievements of the Kpop industry.

Global culture style magazine ‘Monocle”s editor-in-chief Tyler Brûlé said on Bloomberg TV, “Kpop is Korea Republic’s most effective and powerful weapon”. In the broadcast, Brûlé also mentioned, “Samsung, Hyundai and LG are the brand names of Korea Republic’s largest exports but now, what actually appeal to most people are Korea’s power brands such as BoA, SNSD, Epik High, Super Junior and other Kpop singers”.

The development of Kpop is a product of the advancement of digital media. He added, “As we progress into the digital era, Kpop has been reaching out to fans around the world through YouTube”. The program then played videos of Wonder Girls’ ‘Nobody’ parodies and covers.

In last month’s edition of Financial Times, Brule had also mentioned some of Korea’s most-likely-to-be-successful exports which includes SNSD. Brûlé was particularly attracted to SNSD’s ‘Run Devil Run’ music video.

SME artists record supportive messages for Luna’s musical debut

SM Entertainment has shown fans once more that the artists aren’t just labelmates, but a bona fidefamily that supports and cares for one another.

Various artists and idol groups got together to record a video message for f(x)’s Luna, encouraging the idol to do her best in her musical debut on February 4th. Luna was chosen to play the leading role of ‘Elle Woods’ in the musical adaptation of “Legally Blonde“.

BoA, KangTa, SNSD, SHINee, TVXQ, and Super Junior all made time out of their busy schedules to congratulate Luna, but it was f(x) who displayed the most joy for their fellow group member.

The f(x) members revealed that they were more nervous for Luna than Luna was herself, and they each made sure to ask viewers to look forward and lend their interest to her debut.

Jessica, who previously played the role of ‘Elle Woods’, showed her support with the other SNSD members by performing a dance from the musical.

Meanwhile, TVXQ complimented Luna’s determination and shouted ‘fighting!’ in encouragement. BoA, KangTa, SHINee, and Super Junior all added, “Luna fighting! ‘Legally Blonde’ fighting!”
