Billboard.com recently reported on Girls’ Generation’s new Japanese single, “PAPARAZZI”, which has proven to be yet another hit and continues to do well on music charts. In the article, Billboard.com summed up the girls’ incredible success in Japan by citing SoundScan Japan and noting that “PAPARAZZI” sales have so far reached 103,000 units sold, pushing Girls’ Generation’s total singles/download sales in Japan to 645,000. By selling over 100,000 copies, “PAPARAZZI” has also been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association in Japan (RIAJ). For the group’s total album sales in Japan, Girls’ Generation has reached another amazing milestone in their career: their total album sales in Japan recently surpassed the million mark and currently stands at 1,081,000 total sales.
The single itself had already done well on both the Tower Records “Daily Singles” chart and Oricon’s “Daily Singles” chart, with detailed statistics covered here. Girls’ Generation has kept the momentum going with “PAPARAZZI” sales still going very strong. “PAPARAZZI” was number one last week on Billboard’s Japan Hot 100 and still currently holds the number seven spot, demonstrating their ever-increasing popularity and presence in Japan’s music industry.

SNSD tops ’2011 K-POP album sales ranking’ chart in Japan

Once again, the ladies of SNSD have proven why they are at the forefront of the Hallyu wave. They have sold more albums than any other K-pop idol star.
According to the ’2011 K-POP album sales rankings’ reported by major Japanese record distributor Tower Records, SNSD’s debut Japanese album ‘Girls Generation‘ sold more albums than any other Korean artist this year. Furthermore, their most recent release of ‘The Boys‘ ranked #4 on the list. They were the only artist whose name arose on the list more than once, and their high fame in Japan was once again made all the more real.
Behind SNSD on the Tower Records list were Super Junior, who came in at #2 with their album ‘Mr.Simple‘. KARA came in at third place with ‘Girls Talk‘, while JYJ‘s ‘In Heaven‘ ranked at #5.
The results are based on the sum of album sales from the beginning of the year to November 30th. 37 genres of music were included in the total including K-POP, World POP music, Classical, Jazz, and more, however the detailed number of sales were not made public.
Additionally, SNSD ranked #3 on Yahoo! Japan‘s ’2011 Search Rank’ list, #1 for artist overseas and #2 for overall female artist.

'Girls' Generation', Yahoo Japan's most popular keyword among foreign celebrities

by [Divine] SNSD Unlimited (Official) on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 6:17pm

'Girls' Generation' is the most searched keyword based on Yahoo Japan's 'Famous Foreigners Ranking'.

Also, based on '2011 Yahoo Japan Keyword Ranking' (from January 1st to October 31st), the girls were ranked 3rd in the overall ranking among famous figures, behind AK848 and Arashi.

While Girls' Generation came in 2nd in the 'Famous Female Ranking', the girls' firm reputation as the famous foreign popstars and Hallyu stars put them on top of other big foreign names in the 'Foreigners Category'. Kara who debuted before Girls' Generation in Japan took the 2nd spot.

The results also served as an indication of the huge popularity of Kpop in Japan as most of the top 10 positions in the 'Famous Foreigners Ranking' were occupied by Korean artists.

SNSD’s Jessica & 2PM’s Taecyeon spotted together in Japan

A recent photo of SNSD’s Jessica and 2PM’s Taecyeon has become a hot issue on the web.

On August 15th, a photo of Jessica and Taecyeon at a cafe was revealed through an online celebrity message board. According to both of their agencies, this photo was taken at night in Tokyo on August 14th. Dressed in casual clothes, the two stars briefly met up after completing their respective promotional activities for the day.

Representatives from both agencies have said,

The two of them have already been known for being close. They just drank tea together out of the gladness for meeting in Japan.

They are just close friends. Please do not take this the wrong way.

Meanwhile, last month, Taecyeon dodgeed questions about how he knew Jessica’s number on ‘Strong Heart‘. Are they just friends, or is this just another “proof shot” that they’re something more?
