Psy’s “Gangnam Style” breaks Girls’ Generation’s “Gee” consecutive win record on ‘Music Bank’

Psy set yet another record for himself.

Psy beat Lee Hi for the #1 spot on the November 16th episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Music Bank‘ winning for the 10th week in a row.

Psy previously set a new record for the most number of most wins on the show with 13 wins including this week. However, his consecutive win streak had been broken byKARA‘s “Pandora” after the 3rd week. Undeterred, the song kept winning #1 after that, building up more and more consecutive wins. The win today marked his 10th consecutive one on Music Bank, which was good enough to beat out the record previously set by Girls’ Generation‘s “Gee” with 9 consecutive wins.

This record is even more surprising because he never performed “Gangnam Style” on ‘Music Bank’.

Psy shares a picture of “Psy Generation”

SNSD set out to support Psy’s performance stage on the November 28th episode of SBS’s “Inkigayo.”

Right as Psy’s “Right Now” performance was coming to an end, SNSD made a surprise appearance and finished off his performance with their “Hoot” ’robin-hood’ dance.

After the performance, Psy wrote on his personal me2day, “Mu..hoot!!! (satisfaction)” along with a photo he took with the girls, proving that the trend lately is “Psy Generation.”

Psy previously claimed that SNSD was like a religion in the army and even chose Yuri as his favorite member.

Netizens commented, “Jackpot! It was totally cool. Have to watch Psy’s performances in the original broadcast,” “Psy saved a country in his past life,” and “Psy shot his arrows the most passionately amongst SNSD.”

2AM and SNSD win Inkigayo Mutizen awards + other performances

Having been pre-empted last week for the “2010 Love Sharing Concert“, Inkigayo is back once more with a fun and exciting show filled with amazing performances from the top singers in Korea.

During the show, 2AM was awarded the Mutizen award for last week’s show which had been pre-empted. This was 2AM’s first award since making a comeback! Congratulations!

The Take 7 nominees for this week were 2NE1 (‘It Hurts‘), SNSD (‘Hoot‘), Psy (‘Right Now‘), B2ST(‘Beautiful‘), 2NE1 (‘Go Away‘), Supreme Team (‘Then Then Then‘), and 2AM (‘You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls‘). Due to special circumstances, neither 2NE1 nor Supreme Team performed.

Having won the Mutizen at the beginning of the month and then losing out last week, SNSD came back to reclaim the top spot with their 2nd win on Inkigayo. Congratulations!

Other performers tonight include SNSD, 2AM, PSY, B2ST, KCM, Co-Ed, Beige, Yun Hwa Jae In, D.Heaven, Maeng Yuna, LED Apple, Touch, Bohemian, Miho, O.P one, and Sunday Brunch.

Psy is a big fan of which SNSD member…?

Singer Psy expressed his fondness recently for a certain member from SNSD.

On this week’s “Entertainment Relay-Guerilla Date“, Psy walked through the streets around Hongik University with his interviewer and pedestrian fans.

He talked a little about his job as a songwriter, and how people seemed incredulous of his abilities. “When people find out that I wrote Lee Seung Gi’s ‘Because You’re My Woman,’ they don’t want to believe me, nor do they actually believe me.”

He continued, “Recently, I got asked by SNSD’s Taeyeon to write a song for her. I felt more proud of her recognition than any other songwriters’ recognition. I would write her not just one song, but ten songs!”

It’s sweet to see how attached Psy can be to those who recognize his talents.

PSY & SG Wannabe’s Lee Seok Hoon defend SNSD

SG Wannabe’s Lee Seok Hoon left a stinging message against the Daejong Film Awards on his personal Twitter.

On the afternoon of October 29th, he tweeted, “Was it that hard to clap?! Was it that hard to smile?! How could your bodies have stayed still when music was playing?! This is too much!!”

SNSD performed “Oh!” and “Hoot” at the Daejong Film Awards on the 29th but was met with a cold response from the movie stars present. MC Shin Dong Yup attempted to ameliorate the situation by stating, “American awards shows enjoy performances like this, I think our male actors are focusing too hard on one spot!”

Netizens were also disappointed with the attitude of the actors, leaving comments such as, “Are they trying to say that they’re a higher class than singers just because they’re actors?” “The actors were definitely acting too cocky,” and “It was so embarrasing for me to watch on SNSD’s behalf. The actors must think they’re so important.”

Other netizens retorted with, “Inviting idols to perform was the first mistake. SNSD should’ve stuck with songs everyone knows, it just seemed like they went there to promote their new song, not congratulate the show,” “OST singers should’ve been invited instead,” and “This was not a place for idol singers. They were out of place and out of their league.”

Singer PSY also defended SNSD on his personal Me2day as well, writing, “The awards show today must’ve been really godly and luxurious, hmm? I was too busy singing and wasn’t able to watch it, but it seems like the general sentiment after reading here and there…. They should’ve invited a guy like me so I can trespass into the audience… ^^ You know, people sit down to watch good shows and stand up to watch bad shows.”
