by Girls Generation Soshi on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 12:02am

On the day that a snippet of the ‘MR.TAXI’ music video was released, SONEs have more good news to look forward to. On the Oricon Ninki Chart, users have predicted a #1 for Girls’ Generation’s third Japanese single!

As the Oricon Ninki Chart is a pre-release rating system, based on the results of a user poll conducted by Oricon, the girls’ ranking of 88.10 indicate that there is a strong public interest in their new single. Despite being expected to top the Oricon daily chart on the day of release, they will still face tough competition for the top weekly spot from Kobukuro, a well established Japanese group that debuted a decade ago.

KARA and SNSD top Oricon Style ranking for "next big breakout artist"

In the weekly Japanese entertainment magazine Oricon Style, KARA and SNSD were named the top two artists in "Next Breakout Ranking 2011". The ranking was determined in a survey conducted by Oricon Monitor Research, in which 500 Oricon employees (250 male and 250 female) participated and selected KARA as the top breakout artist; SNSD came in second place.

Having dominated Japan's music scene since mid-last year, the newcomers' total sales set them apart from past Oricon-ranking winners and earned them the top two spots in the ranking.

KARA and SNSD are the only Korean groups who topped the ranking. Third place went to the Japanese girl group SKE48, AKB48's Nagoya-based sister group, and fourth place went to the Japanese rock band Sakanaction.
