Shoujo Jidai wraps up their arena tour in Fukuoka!

On July 18th, Korean idol group Shoujo Jidai wrapped up their first Japan tour at Fukuoka’s Marine Messe!
The girls started off their tour at the end of May with a performance at Osaka-jo Hall, and have since performed 14 times in front of approximately 140,000 people.

During the final performance of their tour, the members thanked their fans with tears in their eyes.“Thanks so much for all of the love you guys have given us!” said Tiffany to the crowd. Yuri also commented, “It has always been a dream of ours to do a nationwide tour. Thanks so much!”

The venue had a main stage and center stage which allowed the nine members to get closer to their fans. The concert opened with a rearranged version of their hit song “GENIE”, with an added rap portion for Tiffany. Throughout the concert, the girls showed off their synchronized dancing and solo performances – which were each members’ own idea – and pumped up their Japanese fans.

After finishing up their set list of thirty-two songs and doing a live broadcast for “HEY! HEY! HEY!”, the crowd called out for the girls to do an encore. Sooyoung playfully asked the fans, “What do you guys want to hear?”, to which the fans naturally called back, “Gee!!!” The song riled up the fans for a memorable and exciting end to their first tour in Japan.

Even The Costumes Get Their Own Tour Schedule

Amazing as it may seem, even the costumes worn by the angelic 9 get a tour schedule of their own !

The popularity of the 9 ladies has prompted Tower Records in Japan to hold special exhibitions of the girls’ stage outfits in 3 cities as part of the ongoing promotions for the new album “Japan 1st Album–Girls’ Generation“.

The exhibition started on May 31st in Tower Records’s music stores in Shibuya and Shinjuku in Tokyo as well as in Nagoya and Osaka, coinciding nicely with the girls’ first Japanese tour concert at Osaka Castle Hall, which had a total attendance of about 10,000 people.

500,000 And Counting !

Inspite of the short time-frame of the release of the girls’ new Japanese album, they still managed to get 500,000 units shipped out !

With the release of the ladies’ new Japanese album today, the angelic 9 are slowly, but surely, gaining momentum in the Japanese music market.

Currently the No. 1 reserved album in Japanese record stores, over 500,000 units (and counting) have already been shipped, raising expectations that it will be a mega hit throughout the country of  Japan.
In addition, the Girls’ also kicked off their Japanese Arena tour on May 31st in Osaka. 9,000 fans were reported to have attended the 1st concert, and some of the girls even spoke in the Osaka dialect to interact with the fans (according to reports on the event).

The 9 ladies reportedly commented: “We’ve prepared a lot of performances that are worth watching. We will work hard so that our performances can relay energy to the Japanese fans. Please look forward to it.” (How typical of the ladies to always want to give of their best for the fans .)

Earlier today, Japan’s representative entertainment news show “Mezamashi TV” took the opportunity to do a story on the concert event (as did other Japanese news programmes). In fact, the former even did a detailed report of the Osaka concert in the middle of the show, demonstrating the impact of the 9 on the Japanese entertainment scene at this moment in time.

It certainly looks like the Girls are off to a good start here !

SNSD surpasses 100,000 sales mark in just 2 days!

On June 1st, the ladies of SNSD released their first full-length Japanese album and after the first day, the album topped the Oricon daily albums chart by selling 73,583 units. Now, with the second day of sales tallied it’s been revealed that the girls have broken the 100,000 sales mark threshold!

With a second day sales figure of 48,428 units the girls have officially sold a total of 122,011 units! If you can recall, back in November, popular group KARA released their album, “Girl’s Talk” and it sold a total of 107,000 units it’s first week, marking that monumental feat as the first album by a non-Japanese Asian girl group in Japan in 6 years and 9 months to sell more than 100,000 album copies in its first week. Now, SNSD has surpassed KARA’s first week tremendous sales figure in just two days.

Quite an accomplishment, the ladies of SNSD are well on their way to first place on the Oricon Weekly album chart ranking.

Shoujo Jidai’s first album topped Japanese music stores’ pre-order charts

SNSD’s first studio album ‘Girls’ Generation’ which will be officially released on June 1st topped Japan music sites’ pre-order list upon the announcement on May 16th.
In just 8 months after their Japanese debut in September last year, SNSD will be releasing their first Japanese album which includes their previous hit songs such as ‘Genie’, ‘Gee’ and ‘Mr.Taxi’. Once the pre-order was opened on Amazon Japan, the Deluxe Edition sold like hot cakes and rose to no.1 on the pre-order chart while the Limited Edition was ranked 5th.

Meanwhile, all 3 editions of SNSD’s ‘Girls’ Generation’ grabbed the top 3 spots of the pre-order chart on CD Japan. On HMV Japan, the Deluxe Edition was ranked 1st while the Limited Edition came in 2nd.

Shoujo Jidai nominated alongside big names for 3 awards at 2011 MTV VMAJ

The 10th Annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan was renamed to MTV Video Music Aid Japan (VMAJ) and it will be held on June 25th, 2011 at Makuhari Messe (a convention center) in Chiba City, Japan. The event was named as VMAJ is support of the Japanese Red Cross and encourage the rebuilding efforts after the massive earthquake and tsunami in Northeastern Japan on March 11th.
The event will be aired live through MTV Japan, MTV Korea, MTV China and MTV Southeast Asia. 2011 MTV VMAJ will be hosted by Japanese girl group, AKB48 and there will be performances by Lady Gaga, EXILE, Kana Nishino, AK-69, etc.
There were 15 categories of awards at the 2011 MTV VMAJ namely Best Male Video, Best Female Video, Best Group Video, Best New Artist Video, Best Video of The Year, Best Rock Video, Best Pop Video, Best R&B Video, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Reggae Video, Best Dance Video, Best Video from a Film, Best Collaboration Video, Best Album of The Year and Best Karaoke! Song.
SNSD’s ‘Genie’ was nominated alongside some of the big names in the world in 3 categories – Best Group Video, Best Video of The Year and Best Karaoke! Song. They will be up against the likes of Lady Gaga, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Black Eyed Peas, Linkin Park and Utada Hikaru for these awards. Being nominated in these 3 categories is already a massive achievement and if they manage to grab just an award out of the 3, it would be a really amazing feat for the girls.
Don’t forget to tune in to MTV Japan, MTV Korea, MTV China or MTV Southeast Asia at 6pm JST on Saturday, June 25th as 2011 MTV VMAJ will be aired live from Makuhari Messe, Japan.

What did SNSD do during 2 days of vacation?

SM Entertainment recently rented out a private pension club for 2 days in order to allow all 9 Girls' Generation members to rest. The girls stayed at the club without the presence of managers or bodyguards, making the 2 days a fully private experience. In addition to complete privacy, SM Entertainment also provided food and drinks for all 9 members at the club. With the girls making a strong charge into the Japanese market with 'Run Devil Run/MR. TAXI' as well as their numerous appearances on variety shows and commercials, their schedule has been understandably busy. SM acknowledged that, despite their strong on-stage presence, "the members of Girls' Generation have an average age of 21.5 years" and that "they are girls who want to party" but that they can't do so like normal girls because of the attention they receive.

Born  on December 5th 1989. Yuri who is in the middle of studying Japanese  with a very pretty pronunciation. She is a polite and lovely girl.

A1.  I learn from a teacher, but I watch dramas a lot. I watch it on repeat  and remember the lines. I like "Hotaru no Hikari" and "Pride."

A2. Jeans and white t-shirts! Because I think men like simple styles. If it's a brand, I like Chloe.

A3. I make an effort to exercise by doing yoga or swimming, etc.

Taeyeon

Born on March 9th 1989. She gazes firmly towards a person’s face, talks in a calm way and is surrounded by a mature atmosphere.

A1: I want to add accents with large bangles and accessories to flower printed items.

A2: Collagen mist! It’s good as a preventive measure against dry skin and as time passes it gets better.

A3: The makeup is cute. I like all the colors and the vibe is also lovely.

Yoona

Born  on May 30th 1990. She appears in dramas and is also active as an  actress. A slender girl who loves acting and dancing very much.

A1:  That I thoroughly cleanse and take off the makeup, apply a lot of  moisturizing cream so that the moisture of the skin can’t get away.
Q2: What is your favorite Japanese food?
A2: Ramen is delicious but my favorite food is sushi! But I also love sukiyaki.

A3: ‘Secret Garden’ in which Hyun Bin plays the leading role is very funny.　　.

Born on February 10th 1990. Sooyoung who is very good in Japanese. She is a fashionista who likes Zucca and Japanese brands.

A1: Not too colorful, not too plain, just the right styling. I like the See by Chloe page for the February issue.

A2: Isabel Marant and Zucca.

A3: A military jacket with a flower patterned mini dress. It also fits with the riding boots of my favorite brand Zucca.

A4: Sticking stickers on the walls of my room and decorate it.

Tiffany

Born  on August 1st 1989. Grew up in America. Unique among the members who  are mostly the cool type, she is a sweet girl who loves pink.

Q1: What are you into at the moment?
A1: I really like Japanese nail art with the various and delicate designs. I like gel nails.
Q2: What would you wear for a cinema date?
A2:  A summer knit with jeans. Boots since it creates the styling point for  the legs. Because I have to sit for a long time, being comfortable is  very important. (laughs)
Q3: Tell us your impression about ‘Sweet’!
A3: There are a lot of cute things, it’s fun to see only my favorite styles.

Hyoyeon

Born on September 22nd 1989. She is good in Chinese and is always smiling. The shyness she shows while talking is very cute!

Q1: Your favorite Japanese food?
A1: Sukiyaki and ramen. Usually I don’t really eat a lot of meat, but with sukiyaki I end up eating a lot of meat.
Q2: What is your impression about Japanese girls?
A2: There is a large variety of manicures and fake eyelashes sold and I was also surprised of their big interest in makeup.　
Q3: If you would secretly date in Japan, what style would you wear?
A3: I would hide my face with a hat and wear a rough sleeveless style and with jeans.

Born on May 15th 1989. A cute girl whose friendly and charming smile never stops. She is very bright and energetic.

A1:  Because dry skin isn’t good, I moisturize it a lot. Also in order to  maintain white skin I apply plenty of moisturizing cream.

A2:  Smartphone. It’s fun to download a lot of apps and play with them! You  can set up mp3 files as ringtones and I also like to customize them  freely.

Seohyun

Born  on June 28th 1991. Good at piano and an impressive neat young lady like  appearance. An intelligent girl who is fluent in Japanese.

Q1: What are you into at the moment?
A1:  Studying Japanese. That’s why I watch a lot of dramas and I like  ‘Nodame Cantabile’. It’s funny and because I also play the piano, I feel  a sense of closeness. But I like ‘Hotaru no Hikari’ the most. It can  make me laugh and the story is good.
Q2: Tell us your impression about ‘Sweet’!
A2: I thought it was only fitting for Japan. There is a lot of individual style.
Q3: You are good in Japanese.
A3: It is as difficult as studying it.

Shoujo Jidai bagged ‘Best Pop Video Award’

SNSD’s Japanese debut song ‘Genie’ was crowned the ‘Best Pop Video Award’ at the ‘Space Shower Music Video Awards’ on April 10th.

According to a Twitter account, ‘SNSDinJapan’, winners for the 15th Space Shower Music Video Awards were chosen from about 4,000 music videos released in 2010.

Congratulations to the girls for winning the ‘Best Pop Video Award’ and it was truly an amazing achievement and acknowledgement since their Japan debut in September last year.

Fans with a big heart

Local and international fan clubs respond to celebrities’ call-out

They are not just screaming girls who get excessively emotional when their idols appear or take stage. These devoted fans have a big heart too.
In wake of the Japanese earthquake on Mar 11, celebrities have shown their support and donated to victims of the natural disaster.
Korean entertainment companies such as SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment have all made donations; while individuals including Song Seung-heon and Kim Hyun Joong have donated KRW$200 million (approximately S$220,000) and KRW$100 million (approximately S$110,000) respectively.
Some 38 artistes including U2, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Beyoncé came together and produced Songs For Japan, a compilation album. The album is available on the iTunes Store in 22 countries. Profits from the album sales will be donated to Japan Red Cross.

Following the footsteps of their idols, many forums and fan clubs have also stepped forward to do their part in aiding the Japan quake victims.
One of them is Soshified, the largest international forum that supports Korean girl group Girls' Generation (also known as 'So Nyeo Shi Dae').
Soshified recently concluded a donation drive, which included an auction hosted by the forum.
Individuals from countries including Singapore, USA, Australia, Brazil and Chile donated a total of US$19,602.51 (approximately S$25,000). Various Soshified members also offered treasured items for an auction, to further help raise funds.

An autographed album from Girls' Generation leader Taeyeon was auctioned for US$999.90 (approximately S$1,300), making it the highest bid collected.
The total amount of money raised in a period of three weeks was US$25,372.50 (approximately S$32,000).

What sets Soshified's charity drive apart is that Google had offered to match up to at least US$12,000 (approximately S$15,000) of the funds the forum had raised. A representative from Soshified added that they are currently working with Google to increase the amount.
All donations will be made to the Japanese Red Cross Society through Google Crisis Response.

This is not the first time Soshified was involved with charities.
In conjunction with Girls' Generation's third anniversary last year, Soshified donated US$5,680 (approx. S$7,200) to charity: water, a non-profit initiative which focuses on providing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Many local fan clubs have also taken the initiative to help the Japan quake victims.
Previously, singer Huang Jing Lun's local fan club raised S$705 in a day. Together with fans in Taiwan and Hong Kong, the fan clubs donated a total of NT$100,000 (approximately S$4,300) during Fight & Smile, a 'live' fund-raising programme held in Taiwan.
Local fan clubs of Korean groups Super Junior, SHINee and YG Family are also currently holding their own donation drives. Most of these clubs solicit funds from members and the public by spreading the word through social media.
YG Supporters, which is made up of several fan bases supporting artistes from YG Entertainment, also tries to raise funds by selling items from their blogshops.
What prompted these fans to do their part in disaster relief?
"We wanted to give something back to the society. We've been doing gifts for the girls [Girls' Generation] and it came to a point where we think that doing charity as a community and for the girls is more meaningful," the Soshified rep expressed.
According to Angela, a rep from YG Supporters, YG Entertainment makes donations to charities annually.
"Yang Hyuk Suk, the president of our favourite entertainment company [YG Entertainment] serves as our inspiration," she said.

Black Shouji are hitting Japan soon, ‘Hoot’ received Gold certification

According to SNSD’s Japanese official website, SNSD will be releasing the Japanese version of ‘Run Devil Run‘ on January 18th.

The song will be released in ringtone version and it is expected to receive lots of attention and interest from Japanese fans. The Japanese version of ‘Run Devil Run’ ringtone will be released on January 18th and the full version of the ringtone will be unveiled on January 25th.

Meanwhile, SNSD’s licensed Japanese Edition of 3rd Mini Album ‘Hoot‘ released in December 2010 was awarded the ‘Gold Certificate‘ by Recording Industry of Japan (RIAJ) for recording sales exceeding 100,000 copies.

Shoujo Jidai and Kara are the most promising artistes in Japan this year

New Korean Wave’s big players, SNSD and Kara were chosen as the two most promising singers in 2011 in Japan.

According to Oricon on January 7th, 500 members of the monthly-published Oricon Magazine have participated in a survey to determine the most promising artistes in 2011. The result went in favor of Kara and SNSD where they took the no.1 and no.2 spot respectively.

Oricon stated, “This year, Kara topped the list of the most promising artistes in 2011 while SNSD came in 2nd. The two groups (Kara and SNSD) have also managed to secure the top two spots on Oricon in terms of total music sales in the ‘Newcomers Category’ last year”.

SNSD’s Tiffany will be taking some time out from ‘Hoot‘ promotions due to a recent knee injury.

On November 14th, Tiffany fell over during the group’s performance of ‘Hoot’, and was taken to the hospital the following morning for ......a check-up. Results showed that the member had injured her posterior cruciate ligament on her left knee, and will take approximately 4 weeks of rest for a full recovery.

Hey this is Dream Generations 2nd comeback single with the new members. I daresay it was kinda harsh having them do 2 songs in one week! But wow they pulled it off and they sounded awsomee! Hehe :)

LT's Note - The chorus really gave me a headacHE. As I say, genie is one of the hardest songs to mix due to the half talking half singing parts. But hope you think its okay. And yes it is most the girls voices, I had the original track tunned down a lot since they have background vocals so more or less of what you hear are the girls own voices. The instrumental that I intended to use got removed by copyright so yea...xD Also I apologizse if the video runs out of sync at any moment. My downloaded screwed up the audio so in the original they did not match and I had to sync the song by looking at their mouths for half an hour. As much as I like SNSD it was not hte best half hour ever. But enough of my blabbling, please enjoy all their hard work! :)
